One of the Delta Institute's managing directors and the Executive Director of the ReBuilding Exchange, Elise Zelechowski won one of Chicago Magazine's prestigious Green Awards for 2012. As an "eco-entrepreneur," Elise created the ReBuilding Exchange, a non-profit building material reuse initiative dedicated to diverting waste, creating jobs, and protecting community health. Local leaders participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the ReBuilding Exchange's new facility in the Bucktown-Wicker Park neighborhood.After two years on the south side, the RX re-located to this larger, more centrally located facility and hopes to attract other sustainable companies to the area. Delta Institute Deputy Executive Director Elise Zelechowski (also the Executive Director of the ReBuilding Exchange) was one of nine finalists in "Mayor Daley's GreenWorks Awards 2010."
