We connect the dots between problems and the people who know how to solve them. We’re also a kind of institutional filter. We help busy people and institutions wade through all of the conflicting data and confusing sales pitches to make rational decisions. That’s because as a non-profit with decades of staff expertise and experience, we’re not pitching commercial products or an entrenched agenda. We can be trusted to help evaluate all the options and arrive at the best way forward.

I was really pleased to see the results of some recent marketing research we commissioned to test these assumptions. Peregrine Strategic Consulting talked with local environmental, government and business leaders, and they confirmed that Delta plays an important role as both a dot-connector and information filter. But they also told us something very important.

The busy executives and managers said that time is so short and the ocean of data is so vast – they need help with practical decisions right now. (Remember, Joel Makower said at our Partners in Change dinner that we may have only 5,000 days “to figure things out”.) These busy people told us they don’t want to hear the canned speeches and regurgitated facts. They want to hear from “the unusual suspects” – people in the trenches with practical, innovative advice and solutions they can share.

That’s where you come in. We want to hear from you about your experiences in the green economy. What specific problems or issues have you faced, and what solutions have you explored? How can we connect you with others who might benefit from your experience or offer you a helping hand?

That’s the spirit that led us to found the Green Business Development Center, that began operating a few weeks ago and will have its official opening later this year. It will be a physical space where these kinds of connections will take place, but you can contact us any time for information or assistance to do your part for a cleaner, greener economy.

Thanks. We look forward to hearing from you.
