Presenter Bios:

Aaron Greven - AG DesignWorks

I have led large scale mixed-use projects as a Project Architect for several firms, as well as serving as Project Director for a design-build development firm. Over the past 5 years I have been involved in developing best practices and standards across a variety of software and process-related project tasks, developed and integrated strategies for advancing the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), including the integrated use of Revit, SketchUp, 3DS MAX, and Navisworks.

My passion is for continuing my work using BIM, Revit and smart modeling, which I believe represents a turning point in the entire AEC industry. The jury's still out on whether the Architects, GCs, or Owners will be driving the ship. I'd like to help forge this new direction and plan to use my own firm as a vehicle for change in the industry.

As owner of AG Design Works, Inc. I offer consulting services to contractors, design firms and owners looking for direction, strategic support, and guidance in the use of 3D tools in the building process. There is a need throughout the AEC industry to move beyond the software sales pitch - beyond the hype - and look for real solutions that benefit the project's bottom line in tangible and measurable ways.

Dan Sheehy - 3rd Coast Construction

Through my experiences as a union carpenter, union electrician, and project manager, I have developed an immense skill base in the building trades. This technical knowledge provided the groundwork for the creation of the TCC concept, a marriage of traditional building, design, and sustainability for the future. My 10 years of experience managing all aspects of the building process from the permitting, mechanicals, and labor, to relationships with architects, clients, and inspectors, informs my nuanced understanding of general contracting and my vision for 3CC. To each project, I bring innovation, communication, and extensive experience in promoting a collaborative vision with clients.

I bring to 3CC the understanding that sustainable construction should not be merely a concept, but a reality. Through experience, I have learned that all aspects of the design and build process can be made more sustainable, and that the option to do so must be a viable one. I partner with clients to create healthy, energy efficient, and socially conscious spaces while maintaining cost-awareness and design integrity. I am dedicated to bridging the divide between traditional construction and future technologies in order to bring to life the vision of each 3CC client.

Bryan Thomas - 3rd Coast Construction

As part of the 3CC team, Bryan Thomas offers 25 years of general contracting experience. The results of his dedication to the industry can be seen on the expertise and building professionalism that Bryan brings 3CC. For over nearly two decades he has worked relentlessly to build sustainable relationships with clients, architects, designers, and sub-contractors, as well as City of Chicago and suburban inspectors. From construction design to project completion, Bryan's cost conscious approach, focus on project quality and time management allow him to construct open, productive and communicative relationships with 3CC clients.

By looking to the future, learning from the past, and recognizing a strong need to change the ways in which we conceive of and inhabit space, Bryan promotes the spirit of 3CC; community, sustainability, and the creation of healthy, socially conscious living and working environments. Bryan incorporates his extensive background in an exploration of innovative technology, products and design in order to help clients build energy efficient, healthy spaces that fit their needs and lifestyles. Whether he is working on residential, commercial, or hospitality, renovations or new construction, Bryan is redefining building industry standards and practices one project at a time.

Elise Zelechowski - ReBuilding Exchange
