Delta Weatherization Programs

In the fall of 2013 through the summer of 2014, the Office of Urban Assistance for the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity will be
administering a new training program designed to create job opportunity by increasing skills for local unemployed and underemployed workers, while improving energy efficiency and energy costs spending in disadvantaged communities.

Consistent with its mission to create market opportunities and achievement where environmental sustainability meets economic development, the Delta Institute has been recognized as a local program administrator to host a series of FREE Weatherization Specialist training cohorts for eligible individuals in Grand Crossing, South Chicago, Humboldt Park, Auburn Gresham, West Englewood, Garfield Park, and other Chicago neighborhoods.

1. Successful completion endorses you as a BPI certified Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer (a training value of over $2,500.00)
2. Opportunities to network and interact directly with existing contractors and professionals in the building science field
3. Complementary supplemental training in building & construction safety and environmental literacy

All eligible applicants will...
- Be at 18 years old at the time of enrollment
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Be capable of achieving a minimum equivalency for 8th grade reading and math (TABE test)
- Be willing to submit and successfully pass a drug screening

CEDA Energy Efficiency Programs
CEDA Weatherization is a year-round program using state-of-the-art technology to make homes more energy-efficient for qualifying low-income clients in Chicago and suburban Cook County.

Peoples Gas Natural Gas Savings Program
The Peoples Gas Natural Gas Savings Program offers incentives to encourage customers to make energy-efficient improvements to their homes and apartment buildings. Rebates are available on energy efficient furnaces, boilers, water heaters, controls and insulation. To qualify, gas furnaces, boilers, and water heaters must be installed by professional contractors. Property owners of multifamily units may also participate in this program. A full list of eligible models and insulation and instructions on how to apply for the rebates can be found on the Natural Gas Savings Program web site. Applications must be made no later than 60 days after the equipment purchase date.
